Statements relating to Year 2000 are "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosures" under
the
provisions of the Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act (S.2392).
The Year 2000 or Y2K 'bug' is very well known today. You can ask anyone what they
think will happen when the date changes over from 1999 to 2000 and find many different
answers. In general you will find three classifications of answers: (1) the world is
going to end, (2) the Y2K 'bug' is hype, nothing will happen or (3) there will be pockets
of problems, but the majority of systems will work fine.
Monroe believes in the third classification. We think that there may be a few
problems that will need to be resolved. The Information Systems department has been
working on resolving these issues prior to the date change. We started in early 1998
to identify and correct any system that might experience a problem with Y2K.
The status on our efforts is very favorable. The business-critical systems are
Y2K compliant or capable. You may wonder what the difference is between compliant
and capable. Compliant means that the system will interpret any date correctly.
Capable means that the system will interpret 2000 dates correctly, but may not
interpret all dates correctly (i.e. - 1/1/3000).
Monroe does not anticipate any interruption in our business or delivering our products
to our customers. If you would like more information or have any questions, Click here.
